To promote and foster good relations between persons and organisations in the communities of Tyne, Wear and Blyth who are interested in maritime affairs
The originally planned trip with The Anchorage Club unfortunately had to be cancelled. Instead, we are having a day out at the wonderful historic Castle Howard House and Gardens. Ken Wilkinson’s daughter Pamela is our driver.
Members and their Guests please be at the Customs House, South Shields at 0830 hours on Wednesday 17th June. We will have a tea/coffee/comfort stop at Strikes Garden Centre in Stokesley on the way there.
For a number of years, the Club has met up with our friends of the Liverpool Anchorage Club. This club share similar interests to ours and it is great to meet with these guys and of course ‘put the world to rights’
Initially we would alternately travel to Liverpool and they to South Shields respectively to meet up. However, in recent years, with the restriction of driving hours of the coach drivers, we have met at a convenient equidistant place of interest. This has proved to be popular.
This was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! Although the day was a little overcast, there was no wind and the rain kept off – The lunch was really nice – all in all a great day out!
The weather was good, we had a very pleasant run down to Bradford with Ken Wilkinson – his daughter Pamela driving the coach. The carvery lunch at the Old Pavilion, Bradford was excellent – we had a room to ourselves.
We then enjoyed the remainder of the day at the Media & Photographic Museum – after which, we said our goodbyes to our Liverpool friends before returning home. A thoroughly super day! Our thanks to all concerned!
