  1. Came across this site by accident and glad I did . My Grandfather Thomas Purvis was a Pilot on the Tyne and possible his son Adrian ? Sadly I didn’t know my grandfather as he died either before I was born or I was too young to remember him . His wife , my grandmother was called Isabella and my mother , Isabel , whose married name was Stamp . Her sister, Vona married a Crankshaw and the family are still in Tyneside . Working on ages, I believe my Grandad would have been a pilot, early 1900’s. Would be delighted if anyone could direct me to where I could find any information on him . Sadly don’t even have an old photo

  2. Go to Tyne Pilots web site where a list of all Pilots going back to 1800s date of birth when licenced and retirement dates plus date of death plus lots of photos.
