“Oh What a Life”
June 9, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
A Presentation by T.A.S.C. Member Tom Purvis (Tyne Pilot Retired)
Tom shares with us his research into the remarkable life of Thomas William Colville who lived in South Shields
Came across this site by accident and glad I did . My Grandfather Thomas Purvis was a Pilot on the Tyne and possible his son Adrian ? Sadly I didn’t know my grandfather as he died either before I was born or I was too young to remember him . His wife , my grandmother was called Isabella and my mother , Isabel , whose married name was Stamp . Her sister, Vona married a Crankshaw and the family are still in Tyneside . Working on ages, I believe my Grandad would have been a pilot, early 1900’s. Would be delighted if anyone could direct me to where I could find any information on him . Sadly don’t even have an old photo
Go to Tyne Pilots web site where a list of all Pilots going back to 1800s date of birth when licenced and retirement dates plus date of death plus lots of photos.
Sorry that info isn’t on the web site send me your email address and will forward
Yes I worked with Adrian 1970s80s,90s apart from work we played a lot of golf today…lived in Tynemouth
